BNDES signed the first Donation Agreement with the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 25, 2009, establishing a commitment to contribute up to NOK 700 million to the Amazon Fund. Five subsequent amendments increased the value of this commitment.
On September 17, 2013, BNDES and the Government of Norway signed a new agreement aimed at consolidating the previous donation agreement and its amendments related to the Amazon Fund, while extending the cooperation through December 2021.
The agreement initially established the end of 2020 as the deadline for the use of donated resources in Amazon Fund projects. Another important change was the full transfer of the contracted funds, made possible by the exemption from the PIS/Pasep and COFINS taxes on donations (Law No. 12,810 of May 15, 2013, which amended Law No. 11,828/2008).
To date, eight amendments have been executed under the 2013 agreement, extending its current term through 2035. The total amount donated so far is NOK 9,424,027,220.49 (BRL 3,804,376,093.74).

Norway’s contributions were made in Norwegian kroner (NOK), except for the 15th contribution, which was made in U.S. dollars (USD). The total amount expressed in NOK includes the conversion of the 15th contribution from USD to NOK using the exchange rate applicable on July 2, 2024.
Government of Germany
BNDES signed its first donation agreement with the Government of Germany, through KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – German Development Bank), on December 7, 2010. To date, three donation agreements have been executed, totaling EUR 89,920,000.00 (BRL 387,859,396.00). The implementation details of these agreements were formalized through separate arrangements.

Swiss Government
On October 4, 2023, BNDES signed its first financial contribution agreement with the Government of Switzerland, through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), in the amount of up to CHF 5 million (five million Swiss francs).
To date, one amendment to the agreement has been executed, bringing the total contribution to CHF 6.5 million (BRL 38,214,896.59) in donated resources to the Amazon Fund.
