ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED
Investments were made in inputs, equipment, and maintenance of the two nurseries managed by the project, in Rolim de Moura and Itapuã do Oeste, and the installation of a warehouse for seedling rustification in Itapuã do Oeste. 3,518,897 seedlings were produced for the activities of recovery of degraded areas (RAD) linked to the Environmental Regularization Program (PRA). 1,540 rural properties of family farming of up to four fiscal modules were served with RAD activities, totaling 2,525.54 hectares. Also in relation to environmental regularization, 891 RAD projects were prepared.
Vehicles and equipment (notebooks, camera, backpacks, furniture, etc.) were acquired to carry out field activities carried out by engineers, nurseries and technicians specialized in the Degraded and Altered Areas Restoration Project (PRADA) and in rural extension, with 13,870 visits that benefited 2,648 families in the municipalities where the project operates.
Several meetings were held in the municipal, regional and state associations in order to sensitize a greater number of farmers to join the project and register interested in the recovery of degraded areas. 165 events were held, with 3,590 participants (1,270 women and 2,320 men).
Regarding the training of farmers, 33 training activities were carried out, as follows: 21 courses, 4 exchanges and 8 field days, totaling 352 hours of training with 536 participants (329 men and 207 women).
The advisory actions to social organizations, which aim to clarify and guide on matters pertinent to the administrative, financial and people management of the organizations, totaled 194 hours.
Several communication products were developed (such as banners, folders, mini videos, website and radio spots) aimed at disseminating practical and didactic information about the project's actions, with the main audience being family farmers, but also society in general. Some materials supported the actions of attracting new beneficiaries. The information regarding the properties served by the project is already available on the website http://plantar-ro.org.br/sigweb/.
Within the scope of the landscape monitoring and analysis component, equipment (volumetric rings for collecting soil samples, GPS and six cameras) were acquired to identify the natural fertility of the areas from soil collections and laboratory analyzes that allowed the selection of more suitable crops for each environment and, therefore, a higher success rate in plantations, in addition to verifying their physical aspects regarding the lands of greater environmental fragility and priority for area recovery.
Investments were made in updating the Arcgis system (mapping software and spatial data analysis) that demonstrated an intensification in landscape change involving the project area and land use and occupation in the state of Rondônia.
The team of researchers from Centro de Estudos (CES) Rioterra and the partners Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) and Universidade Federal de Rondônia (UNIR) developed field actions to collect carbon stock data, which are being analyzed.
Training with the theme tools for the implementation of the PRA was carried out in the municipalities of Ji-Paraná, Rolim de Moura, Itapuã do Oeste, Porto Velho and Araquimes with the training of 128 public servants.
120 maps were prepared to support the territorial management of the municipalities, two technical booklets produced to support the implementation of the PRA, a technical report with a study on the potential for carbon absorption and a technical report on the situation of aspects related to the landscape and soil, which may better support the understanding of conditioning factors of the environment in the development of actions for the recovery and restoration of degraded and/or altered areas in the rural properties served by the project.
